Rostrum Electric Light Christmas 2011

Pics and gif:s from Electric light Christmas at galleri Rostrum. I did my first set alone with my recorded backgroundsounds. The ending performance became an improvisation between me, Peter Dacke and NahTe János Vetö! A blast.
Apart from performances there were a workshop room - see gif:s and pics - food and drinks! Great evening at Rostrum, as always.

I will perform at Rostrum on Friday, December 9. The event is to celabrate the end of a workshop by the members of the artist-run gallery. And Christmas. And the end of a wonderful art year.
And who knows... it might be a joint venture between Wounded Knee/NahTe János Vetö/Peter Dacke.

Great performance last night at Skånes konstförening! I read my poems "Tim, the man", "Darth Vader over for tea" and "Gorgeous" to the sound of recorded music that was custom made for me by Stry Terrarie.

The performers were: Sen Pettersson, Jenny K Lundgren, Melissa Henderson, Josefine Östberg Olsson, Cecilia Coppo and Kirsti Öibakken Pedersen.

Studio Wounded Knee - alla bilder / all pictures!

Studio Wounded Knee was an happening during Gallerynight in Malmo in September 2011. People could take their picture - for free of course - in my temporary "photo-studio".

There were props on the set to choose from; a plastic skeleton, a Vodkabottle, a red rose, jelly candysnakes and a fake ice cream.

There were also a dummy of a white teddybear lying on the floor, some people took notice of it and took it with them in their picture.

Some choosed not to choose their props and were open minded enough to let me choose for them, others stood a long time thinking about their pose and props before enterring the spotlight... Some was slowly lured in to the set and others happily skipped in to ask if they could have their picture taken.

One lady was hurt by the piece, she said it gave her anxiety. It was a sharp obsevation. Some thought it was fun to participate and some took it real sereous.

Me, myself, had such a good night. So much positive energy going on! I am thankful to all the people who helped me make this piece of , you really helped me to better understand what the happening and my art is all about. Thank you guys! I remeber every single one of you.

Ta med dig gamla t-shirts, linnen, toppar och fina strumpor som fått hål på foten (gärna knästrumpor så man har lite tyg att jobba med! Av tjocka stumpbyxor kan man oxå göra nytt.

Du får idéer om hur man mycket enkelt kan fixa nya plagg av gamla eller piffa/rocka till dina trista, omoderna t-shirts och toppar.
Av t-shirts kan du göra scarfs, kjolar, nattlinne eller nya fina toppar. Av strumporna... coola halvvantar, armband, benvärmare, hårband av olika slag och allt som fantasin tillåter.

This whole thing with performing with my own lyrics really happened fast. Me and Jan was at an art opening and was asked to participate at Rostrums Free Store Sounds which was going to take place in two weeks. We all had a little bit to drink this evening and boldly declared that we'd perform!
So, we had to make some sort of performance together, fast. We composed five different "pop-songs" with my lyrics, Jan's sculpture sounds, musical instruments and my voice... It was two truly creative weeks!

I already had some unfinished lyrics or poems laying around before this whole thing started but never really knew what to do with it. I have also nourished a wet dream about being in a musical band and to work with lyrics.

I am now continuing working with it trying to make a solo performance and perhaps recordings of it। We'll just see what happens...

Jan Cardell and Wounded Knee (me) is performing at Rostrum Gallery, Malmö Sweden on 15:th of December 2010. Cardell is a sculptor, making mechanical computer programmed orchestras. I'll be the vocalist,reading my own lyrics. J.C. is also playing his saxophone and harmonica.

Bastard is a new resturant in central Malmö, they bought three of my smoke-fired pig sculptures to decorate their resturang. And yes, the serve a lot of pork... This picture was on the cover for Resturangvärlden, magazine.
